Welcome. I'm David Toyoshima—art director, copywriter, creative director and university lecturer. From my start at Ketchum advertising to creative director at Doyle Dane Bernbach and executive creative director at IWGroup (boutique Asian American ad agency), I've strived to create work that is fun, clever, and thought-provoking. Recently, I received my MFA in Graphic design from CSULB and currently teaching advertising graphic design. My own MFA show reflected a lot of my personality—a nod to my parents, my Japanese American heritage, most importantly, my work ethic—attention to detail, hard work, passion, humor, and courageousness. I've had the distinct honor working with the likes of Bob Scarpelli, Jim Ferguson, Keith Reinhard, and Mike Sheehan (DDB). I owe a lot to my university mentor, Archie Boston. Like Archie, I find myself "giving back" by teaching a new crop of eager and talented art directors. I continue to freelance, so if you like what you see, give me a call.
